Trevor Smith Family Law (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a family law practice located at 401 Bay Street, 16th Floor, Toronto, ON M5H 2Y4. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information through this website, in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Information we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, for example when you complete our consultation request form or email us. This may include your name, email address, phone number, the name of the other party (used to check for conflicts of interest), and any details you include about your matter.
Our web server may also record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running reliably.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and schedule a consultation.
- To run conflict-of-interest checks, as required by our professional obligations.
- To provide legal services if you become a client.
- To keep this website secure and working properly.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Service providers
Our consultation form is provided by LeadConnector, a customer relationship management platform that stores enquiries on our behalf. This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, and the contact page can display a Google Maps map if you choose to show it. These providers may process information such as your IP address under their own privacy policies, and some of them store data outside Canada.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our consultation form provider and Google Maps may set cookies that they need to work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Solicitor–client privilege
Contacting us through this website does not by itself create a lawyer–client relationship. Please do not send confidential information until we have confirmed that we can act for you.
Retention and security
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law and the rules of the Law Society of Ontario. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect it.
